Sense checking cough

My 16 month old seems to have a cough every other week atm. In fact he got over the last one last week, we have had about 4/5 clear days now he's just started up again.

He goes to nursery & I have a 5yo so between them they bring home all sorts.

A friend has an older child who she says the minute he has a cough she takes him to the doctors.

I never take my DC with a cough unless they have a temp with it, & seem distressed. I hate coughs, it jars on me that they're awake most of the night & clearly uncomfortable but if they're eating, drinking, weeing & generally ok even if medicated, I just ride it out.

Am I wrong?

You're not wrong but if they're having an almost constant cough it's worth getting it checked out
