Horrible Pain! Virus or something else

My daughter is 14 she’s been fine all day only within the last hour while out with friends called me to come and get her she’s had sudden horrid cramps and belly pain. She was sat crouched on the floor when I got to her. Now home the cramps come in waves and she feels like she needs a poo but can’t. She also says she feels like she needs to fart but also can’t she said she’s been trying to force it but nothing helps. I know there’s a bug going around the school. She’s on and off the loo like a yo yo but nothing happening. She finished her period on Monday so I’m confident it’s not that.

Im in between minds to call the out of hours but also holding off in case it’s the bug. I’ve given her paracetamol and a hot water bottle. She’s normally healthy. I’m big worry and ask here is her pain and suddenness that it came on!

I’d give out of hours or 111 a call just to be on the safe side. Hope it passes quickly for you both xxx

I'd also call 111 if she's crouched over in pain. Could it be her appendix?

Thank you! The pain is really irregular too when it’s gone she’s pain free which makes me think it’s bug like. Nevertheless I’ve called 111 they are going to call me back within 30 minutes x

Get her to do some stretches - lie on the floor pull knees up to chest if she can. Rock side to side. Trapped wind can be REALLY painful,

She’s been trying the squat position knees wide apart and on her hands and knees trying but nothings helping! Can constipation suddenly appear and come like this?

Yea I think constipation can make you feel really poorly. My daughter seemed really poorly - pale with recurring tummy pains. Turned out she had compacted stools. Lactulose did the trick after 24hours and she was almost instantly back to herself. Perhaps try that tomorrow?

The GP called back said they can said an ambulance or we can go straight to A&E ASAP. So we are on the way to A&E he seemed to think she might have an obstruction with the pain and she’s now vomiting too.

At least you are on the way to getting help OP. Sending hugs. It’s not the same but I’m also up with a vomiting toddler so here in spirit with you! Hoping they sort it for your girl asap xx

Thank you we are checked in, bloods and pain relief going in her arm. She’s just waiting for an xray and ultrasound. They have said her belly sounds quite and her left side belly is hard they did say that it could be a blockage but not fully sure till they know more after the scans. They have given us a bed and a portable loo seat they’ve been great so far

Just thought I’d give an update it’s not the best outcome we could have imagined.
We have had lots of tests in rapid succession in the early hours. The ultrasound, xray and in debt exams didn’t show anything only made lots of pain on her left side and moved slightly into her groin . They decided to double check and did an internal ultrasound and found her ovary has twisted. She went down for surgery about 7am. We are just anxiously waiting now 💔😭 x

She’s out of surgery and on a ward. She’s in a lot of pain but the doctors are pleased with the surgery and managed to save her ovary ❤️

Oh my goodness. What a shock for you all. I was coming on to say appendicitis. I hopeshe heals quickly.

Good to know that nhs 111 didn’t take any chances.
