Blood in baby poo

Hi,

My 8 week old has had explosive runny poos since he was born. My husband has a milk and egg allergy (which he has an epi pen for). On a hunch, I stopped drinking cows milk but it did very little so I didn’t think twice when introducing one bottle of formula a day (previously exclusively breast fed) at 6 weeks old.

On the 4th Nov, my son had bloody mucus in his poo. GP suspected cow’s milk allergy, told me to cut out all milk and soya from all parts of my diet and prescribed aptamil pepti 1.

He then had blood in his nappy on 6 more occasions.

It is now over two weeks and I have just changed my son’s nappy to find blood in his poo again (we had gone a week stretch without it). He’s just been discharged from an 8 day stay in hospital following an awful case of bronch. They did a stool sample and it’s clear of viruses and bacterial infections.

Therefore the streaks of blood I’m finding must be from a cow’s protein allergy right? Does anyone else have any experience with this, particularly small streaks of blood in baby’s poo, and when did you see it resolve?

The doctors in the hospital said it can take 6 weeks for the milk to fully leave his system or could it mean I need to try a different formula?

Please help. Thanks.
