Anyone know what this rash could be

Just that really. Baby is 6 months old. She's seen a nurse who doesn't know what it is. She's off her milk and has had cold like viral symptoms the last week

That looks so sore, I'm not one for shouting a&e but in a 6 month old I would take her

Pinkelephant66 · 16/11/2024 17:54

I would also go to A&E. a nurse saying I don’t know if not good enough. She’s so little still

Kaleidoscopic101 · 16/11/2024 17:56

It could be contagiosum molluscum. If it is, it's not overly harmful but unfortunately it can stick around for a long time.

I would call 111...you can send them photos over the phone now. They can send you a link and you can just attach the photo.

I would say the first photo looks like molloscum but the second looks like a separate issue? I hope she's ok in any case, definitely get her seen if just to put your mind at ease.

Thank you all. We think it looks like hand foot and mouth. The nurse said she will telephone tomorrow but I agree. Hospital is definitely the right place.

Doesn't look like hand foot and mouth. The rash is usually flat (or very slightly raised). Could be atypical. Do they have a little white pit in the middle? If not, it's unlikely molloscum. My guess is infantile popular acrodermatitis. See your GP.

That second photo would look like an outbreak of Herpes if it wasn't on the leg (and before anyone has a go, yes babies absolutely can & do get herpes). It's on her leg though, right? So it's unlikely if there's no other sores like those anywhere else. It does look viral though

Does she have older siblings. Looks a bit like molluscum contagiosum

NoEscapingMe · 17/11/2024 17:55

Thank you. She has older cousins who she has had recent contact with. I'm very happy to report she is drinking her milk normally now. Lots of wet nappies and is back to giggling and smiling. So relieved. Rash has calmed somewhat as well
