Wondering if anyone has ever seen anything like this before?? Any ideas what it is? My daughter 13, no known allergies, general well and never normally ill. Drs are involved but so far no joy, waiting on bloods etc, Rash has been there a couple of months now, not itchy or painful, feels slightly dry and is much darker IRL, like fake tan gone wrong. Accompanied by fatigue and dizziness, Dr has suggested possible autoimmune disease……anyone with a similar experience?

Vitiligo?

Thanks but Dr says no. Said it’s like nothing she’s ever seen before, not a standard hyper pigmentation. By where it is and the pattern it’s likely sun activated which is why she’s thinking auto immune. It’s baffling everyone!

Is it tinea versicolor - a fungal infection that makes the skin go dark?

Soberfutures · 14/11/2024 23:27

pityriasis versicolor it does react in sunlight. So if she has been sat with arms bent then will show like a suntan. My sister and daughter have it. Treated with an antifungal like ketoconazole. Can buy it as a shampoo on amazon if can't get a prescription. I recommend getting some and just trying. If it isn't it won't do any harm.

Thanks that’s great I’ll mention it to GP when she’s getting her bloods done. I’ll also try that shampoo, fingers crossed

You could try Nizoral shampoo - see if that helps.

Hi, did you end up finding out what was causing this? My 9 year old son has recently started coming out with marks on his arms and even slight on his cheek, almost identical to these marks!
