Peri anal abscess

Hi

My little one had a peri anal abscess when he was 3 weeks. We were in hospital for four nights on iv antibiotics. It was a really hard angry lump and he had several other small blisters. He is 8 weeks now and the small blisters have gone but the initial abscess is still there. It keeps filling with gunk and popping then filling again. We've now been referred to the surgical team but not for a few weeks. Has anyone else had this experience?

Hi, yes we had that with my then 5 year old son... he had an 'abscess' which which he had surgery on, but then it came back, exactly the same place. At that point they worked out it was actually a fistula... I think he had an MRI. So he had surgery to lay it open and thank goodness we have not had any repeat issues (it's nearly a decade later now).

Your son is clearly much younger. I hope your meeting with the surgical team goes well. I know it's really worrying.
