2.5 growing an extra tooth

Hello
So my almost 2.5 year old has all of his 20 teeth. He's been a bit off for a while now and I thought he was teething but knew he had all of his teeth. I then wondered whether he has an ear infection because he had been scratching his head. Anyway, I managed to have a good look in his mouth the other day, it's normally a battle for me to even look in his mouth properly. Anyway I noticed ANOTHER tooth cutting through behind his molars! I thought these teeth didn't come through until a child is older? Anyway, I don't know whether to take him to the Dentist just to get it evaluated and to check I haven't missed anything. Has anyone's children experienced a similar thing?

They do normally come through quite a bit later. It's good to see the dentist anyway, so I'd make an appointment just to get it checked.
