Weird rash

Hi all,

Just posting here because a rash has appeared on my DD's legs and also around her bottom too. I have no idea what it is. Aside from teething, DD is her usual self. She isn't scratching it so I guess it doesn't itch. Have rolled a glass over the rash and it disappears so I figure that along with no behavioural changes, that would indicate that it isn't meningitis or anything like that.

Just wondering if anyone else has had any experience with anything similar in their toddlers? By no means trying to internet diagnose, just trying to gauge how to tackle it. We have a GP appointment on Wednesday for vaccinations so just pondering whether to wait until then to raise it or if I should be more concerned. She seems fine though. Not bothered by it in any way.

TIA

Hi Op, have you changed washing powder recently? Is it an all over rash or just on the one leg? I would keep an eye today and any worse I would see a pharmacist today / tomo.

It's good you have an appointment soon. As she is otherwise well, it doesn't seem urgent, although a pharmacist might be able to advise in the meantime.

Has she had a virus recently like a cold, as it could be a post-viral rash? Or was there a recent change in laundry detergent/ baby lotion?

My DH just had a rash with nothing else, he saw ooh gp and got some antibiotics - quite weird as it spread quite quickly

Hi all,

Thank you so much for your replies and apologies for being MIA since the original OP! It’s been a busy one today.

@Baxterbaxter The rash is on both of her legs, mainly around her shins and the backs of her legs and also around her bottom. There's been no change in detergent or anything like that. Same lotions etc. The post viral rash could be a possibility though @Swissrollover , while she’s been teething she's had a temperature (around the end of last week) and seemed a bit more tired than she normally would (even with teething in the mix). Wondering if she’s possibly caught something while she’s already been feeling run down with her teeth. Gonna see what it’s like tomorrow and take her to pharmacy if it’s looking any worse or if anything else changes. Could be the same as what your DH had @bestbefore 😭 Hope he’s feeling better!
