Relentless asthma cough

My 8 year old has asthma and the main symptom is a cough

He's recently been started on a combi inhaler and his peak flow is back to normal.

The cough improved a bit for a while but it's coming back now, relentless in the eveving and night and getting bad when he runs around outside

Anyone experienced this? He's got a review of the new inhaler in a few weeks, last time we seen his nurse he was also coughing relentlessly but his lungs where clear (not surprising as he'd bad more steroids from the hospital)

I just don't understand why is peak flow is now normal but he still sounds horrendous

My daughter was like this. She now has a brown inhaler every morning and night and is so much better but it took a few weeks

Thanks, he's had a brown inhaler for years - the new inhaler is a step up from the brown one as the brown wasn't controlling it anymore..it's a combination brown/blue (it's purple) and has helped peak flow but the coughs coming back

I would guess the asthma is better controlled than before but still not well enough controlled, based on my child's experiences. But could it also be reflux or allergies aggravating asthma? Does salbutamol help with the cough?
