DS3 has had this at the side of his mouth for a little while - at first I thought it was from a cold/licking his lips but now I’m worried it’s a coldsore?

It could be, OP, or could be Impetigo. Has he got similar anywhere else on his body?
It's possible it could be Angular Cheilits, though his presentation is not in the typical corner of the mouth.
When you say a little while, how long?

Thanks so much for replying. I can’t see anything elsewhere on him - he’s had ‘something’ in the corner of his mouth for about 3 weeks, but only in the last week I’d say it’s got to this

It looks like it. Poor kiddo. Ask a pharmacist to check.

Tbh it's difficult to be sure without a swab. It could be worth trying to contact your GP to try and get one...( good luck with that, but you never know).
Initial HSV1 presentation tends to be more severe and associated with mild systemic symptoms, however Impetigo is often associated with preceeding viral illness too, but it's not implausible that this could one. Sorry OP, not to be more helpful. X

Thanks both - he seems well in himself and not overly bothered by it but might contact GP in the morning and see what they say. Hoping it’s not a coldsore but who knows!
