A&E for possible choking spell?

My DS (2) looked like he might have been choking on a piece of boiled egg at lunch. He was crying and spluttering, also retching a bit, but not sure if he was really choking as he was making noise. We got him out of his highchair ready to do first aid but before we got the chance he spat out some egg and seemed to swallow the rest. No breathing issues, coughing or vomiting since and he continued to eat/drink. Seems perfectly happy and normal.

I tend to be really anxious with his health but I've seen some websites suggest you should take a child to A&E for choking even if they've recovered?

I wouldn't, it doesn't sound like actual choking, which would be silent, turning blue, having to administer chest thrusts and back slaps etc.

Sounds like he was gagging not choking.

Real choking I thought was silent?
I also didn't realise they needed to go to an and e even if ok? My son choked a few times when he was younger and I didn't take him 🙈. He was fine though but obviously ring 111 if you are worried?

Yes, I think so too. To be fair, most info says to just take them in if they show signs like coughing, fever, etc!

Yes, thanks for asking! No issues that I can see, so probably just a scary memory...
