Blood test yesterday

Hi my son (14) had a blood test yesterday which I requested to test for thyroid as its in the family and he has hand tremmors alsl he has a lump on his neck.

This morning first thing I had a message saying they had his results back and the doctor has made us an appointment today! I'm so worried seems urgent. I mean it could of waited till next week if it wasn't surly? I've out a picture of the lump on as I'm hoping it's just a gland

Please tell me someone else has had this happen and all been ok 🤞

Hi OP - handhold for you, I can’t imagine how worrying this must be for you. I have a kind of similar story - my DS had blood tests for suspected leukaemia and we were brought in day after the tests (bloods were done in hospital but we had to see GP for results). In our case, bloods were fine and GP wanted to reassure us and coordinate the next plan of action (my son has petechial rashes and very large lymph nodes). Fingers crossed they have made the appointment just to reassure that all is fine and what the next course of action should be.

My daughter had a blood test due to a swollen joint. I had a message literally about 2 hours after the test to say we needed to discuss with the doctor. The doctor said - the blood test shows inflammation… which we already knew hence the blood test!

So it might be something like that. But it might not. If it isn’t, you have set the ball rolling and got a blood test and they have looked at it and now you are in the system which is a challenge in itself. I know how very terrifying the wait is - wishing you good luck at the appointment.

Hi ladies, well after the worry bloods we're fine. He is sending my son for a scan if the lump as its not where a gland would be but doesn't think it's anything to worry about could be a cyst. 🤞

That’s a huge relief @Katievalentine - so glad bloods were fine! With regards to the lump, it could be a lipoma (my BIL had one there) or even a swollen lymph node (my DS’s come up there and he also has a big one in his collar bone!) but it’s good that bloods were fine. Hope all goes well with the scan x
