Help! I have finally been told that my 9 month old has a tongue tie and cannot lift her tounge easily to the roof of her mouth and therefore her mouth is always open and she mouth breathes. Now, I noticed her tongue tie when she was a newborn, but we managed to get around breastfeeding fine and sort of ignored it. She has always been a mouth breather and It was only recently when I thought it could be due to the tie!
The breastfeeding consultant said very unlikely to get the correction via NHS as she feeds and eats solids fine. She has suggested trying mouth exercises to strengthen her tongue. But I would pay for private correction if it was beneficial to her, especially long-term.
Can anyone share any similar experiences and whether the correction is worth it?
