Eczema and teething!!!

Is there a known link between eczema and teething?!

My boy is 8.5 months old, has no known allergies, we suspect he is cutting his 5th tooth and overnight then eczema has gone out of control! We're running out of options. We used hydrocortisone ointment with epimax for a week and that calmed it, but we were told not to use it for longer than a week, which took us to Friday.

It's appeared in places he's never had it before, all overnight.

We had a bad night last night with teething, which is why we're putting it down to teething.

I feel so sorry for him and it's so upsetting to see him like this 😭

Other than teething rash on the face or bum, I don't think there's a link.
I think a lot of the time people put a baby's discomfort down to teething(which it often is), but it means any extra symptoms that appear get lumped in with it. Its possible something unrelated is causing the rash and the teething pain is just extra annoyance on top of that.

Think you need to speak to the GP about it. Sounds like it could be an allergy.

We've actually just got home from A&E due to the extent it flared up overnight - we have been given yet another cream to try and antihistamines to help with the itching. The eczema does seem to flare every time he cuts a tooth but who knows.

I just feel so sorry for the poor sausage 😔

Back to the doctor's again this morning and after the hospital saying it was just eczema, turns out he has a combination of infected eczema and hand foot and mouth! I knew there was something more wrong!

Always trust your gut feeling!!!

Oh I'm sorry, at least you know what's going on now. It can be so stressful when you can't do much to help them.
