baby is 9 months and for the first time he is constipated. i breastfeed him all the time he wants, he gets plenty of wet nappies but he just can't get all of his poop out, earlier he pushed so hard he cried a lot with pain i went to check and it was only a hard little bit, and noticed he was bleeding from pushing so much😭 it's been like this for 3 days i offered prunes n all but nothing. im going to the doctors tomorrrow, but i cant stop searching about this as im worried he is suffering with pain and anxious to get tomorrow to get him seen. is it normal to bleed? wasn't much but says it could be anal fissures😭

My son always suffered with constipation and was breast fed, he ended up being diagnosed with neuronal intestinal dysplasia (slow transit colon) and mega colon. You'll probably be given lactulose but keep an eye on him and don't be worried about going back if he's still struggling

Doctors can prescribe Movicol sachets it's like a powder you can add to water or yogurt (this is what I do) I swear by it, wish I'd known about it sooner.Laxedo sachets are another brand name. Sometimes they can be up to 5 sachets per day if it's bad enough. My daughter is on 1 sachet per day she's 5 now so yes it can go on for years but so worth it, she used to be on 5+ per day years back. It just softens so they can pass.

Did you manage to see the doctor?

I hope you have had something prescribed to help. My DS has Movicol or Laxido daily, half a sachet (he is just over 1 and quite small so this is a starter dose) and it keeps things moving - and it worked within two days for him.

The bleeding looks super scary but I think if a small amount and bright red it often comes with constipation and should resolve as soon as the bowel movements soften. Hope you see an improvement soon.
