Hello - I wonder if anyone can give me some reassurance that this is normal?
DS2 had his 16 week jabs today, and at the same time is completely full of cold and has an awful cough picked up from DS1 (I did say to the nurse he was unwell when she did them but she said was fine). I don’t really remember DS1’s jabs a few years ago other than he had them when we had a crazy 40 degree heatwave so I think I’ve blocked it all out it was so awful. But DS2 has been fine most of the day - he’s poorly so has taken two lovely long 2.5 hour naps on me on the sofa as I thought best to let him rest with lots of cuddles- but now since around 6pm he seems to have peaked and become completely insufferable (his jabs were at 9.30 but the guidance online says fever is supposed to peak around 6 hours after?)
Im sure it’s a combo of the jabs, a cold and a cough but my mind is in overdrive as he’s making this weird continuous moaning sound, I’m not sure if it’s pain or he’s just tired, he’s not really taking his bottles - I am managing to get them down him but whereas he normally guzzles them he’s sort of just pushing the teat around, I think possibly where he has a stuffy nose and can’t breathe he’s struggling with them. Now I’m at a point I’m second guessing everything and have panicked myself I gave him 5ml calpol instead of 2.5 (I’m 99.9% sure I did correct dose but as I have a 2yo on the higher dose and he was crying so much I’m now worried that I did it in a rush!), I’ve been putting the children’s olbas oil on a muslin comforter and had that over my shoulder while he napped on me and topped it up throughout the day but now I’ve convinced myself the oil has transferred onto my jumper and onto his dummy then gone in his mouth even though my clothes don’t smell of it at all. I’m so sleep deprived - he’s been waking every 20-40 minutes for the last three weeks - and perhaps I’ve been too much in my own thoughts today but I’ve convinced myself there’s something wrong with him.
I’m not really sure what I’m looking for in posting here but were these jabs awful for you? My head is pounding he’s been crying and moaning for hours straight and I feel really anxious that he’s unwell at the same time.
