Nappy rash or chicken pox?!

Hi,
So yesterday afternoon we noticed what we thought was nappy rash on DS- never had it before so we didn't know what to expect.

At the same time, we noticed a few random little spots (one on his wrist, one on his foot and a few on his knees.) He has been absolutely fine in himself, no temp and definitely not off his food!

This morning the spots on his knees were slightly more red, nappy area was the same but no more spots elsewhere. I've sent him off to nursery thinking nothing of it, but now DM is stressing it could be chicken pox! From my limited knowledge, I thought if this was the case he'd have woken up covered or at least a little poorly.

I'm absolutely mortified now that I've sent him to nursery, I'm sat waiting for a call for them to berate me!

Please tell me it's just nappy rash!

More likely to be hand foot and mouth given where the spots are

@dementedpixie
Thank you! This is exactly what I suspected. I should have given more context- the nursery actually sent a newsletter out last week to say it had been going around. They did say it was fine to send them in though, so hopefully all ok that end!

It's so hard to tell sometimes. My 3 got it at the same time (well, very closely one after the other), and the older 2 were absolutely undeniably poxy - head to toe, red spots. The younger one had maybe 6 or 7 spots in total, scattered over her body, so I'd probably not even have noticed if I hadn't been on the look out for it because of the others. I'm sure nursery will let you know soon enough if they suspect chicken pox.

@TeaButInAPot Thank you, fingers crossed all is well! X
