Toddler poop only at night

Hi all,

My daughter is 2.5 (she is turning 3 in January), and she has been withholding poo DURING THE DAY for many months now. This means that she never poos during the day, however, every single night, without a fail, she poos once or twice. She also wakes up to the discomfort quite often (the discomfort of the poo touching her).
This means that for months, I’ve been changing her once or twice a night. It is a lot of fragmented sleep now.
She is not constipated. There are no changes in her life. She is not potty trained. We put no pressure on her. I don’t know what is going on. Has anyone been in this situation where withholding seems to only happen during the day? What on earth can I do? I have taken her to the doctor a few times and nothing happened. Tried laxatives just in case but it hasn’t helped, she’s not constipated.
thank you so much for any thoughts!

Have you tried reading a book together, in the evening, while she sits on the potty?

I have, yes. I have tried reading all sorts of books on the potty, including ones about poo, and ones that have nothing to do with being on the potty. She doesn’t want to go on the potty though so I don’t force her to try but we do read on it sometimes.
