I knew starting nursery would come with all sorts of illnesses but since my little one started in August she’s been consistently unwell. All respiratory viruses all causing high fevers, 2 lots of antibiotics, 1 hospital stay, an ear infection and the worst case she was diagnosed with pneumonia. She’s just never really gotten fully better, has a constant chesty cough. Spiking temps every couple weeks.
My work is effected as I have either caught what’s she’s bright home or had to take off time to look after her which of course always comes first.
When does it get better? Is this normal?

It’s normal but it’s ROUGH. I think for the first 6 months my son was at nursery he was off sick more than he was there.

He’s now nearly 3 and I can’t remember the last time he was off nursery unwell. He still gets plenty of colds etc but nowhere near as bad as he did when he first started.

It does get better but Jesus Christ that first winter at nursery was a killer. My son had been with a friend's children and their nanny for more than a year so I thought he had probably built up a decent level of immunity but wow...those nursery germs were powerful.

The good news is he has barely been sick a day since he started school, and he is in Y5 now, so I guess it paid off in the long run.

Thank you 🙏 it’s good to hear it does get better but wow it is rough!!
Poor baby just seems to be unwell alllll the time at the moment.
Feel like I’m throwing money down the drain too as she’s hardly there!

I don’t know if it gets better because I’m in the middle of it myself with DD! Sorry your little one has been so poorly! We’ve had norovirus, conjuntivitis, bronchiolitis and she is currently unwell with hand foot and mouth disease and her second bout of bronchiolitis 🤦‍♀️ All of this since the start of September. Surely it can only get better?!

@Fleur240 oh goodness poor toot! What a rough time. Sending hugs it’s so bloody hard. Hope they are feeling better soon!

Does get better my little boy was the same . Last winter was bad always poorly and couldn’t fight it off. Now been there a year and still get the sniffles and usual stuff but doesn’t escalate into anything make than that as we’ve had hospital stays and lots of anti biotics in the past it now seems his immune system is developed and is sooo much better and stronger now.
