4yo painful wee/wont wee

Looking for some advice … my 4yo little girl has had pain/burning when weeing (she calls in “hot wee”, tummy pain & general pain down below all day which has got progressively worse.
She absolutely screamed when she sat down in the bath as well.
I rung 111 & spoke to a doctor who has booked her in for 10am tomorrow and has told me to collect a urine sample in the mean time …

my problem is my daughter is now terrified of seeing and won’t wee. She just woke up screaming and shaking and when I picked her up she wee’d a bit but it went all over me..by the time I got her to the toilet she was screaming, crying and refusing to wee.

any ideas how to get a urine sample from her? She’s not one to cause a fuss over nothing and is normally very complaint and good about being ill so this is really hurting her :(

and does this sound like a uti?

Have you given her calpol?

When my son had this I sterilised a potty with boiling water, and poured the wee out. Once the calpol kicked in he was a lot happier to try and wee.

Edited to add that I know people say the potty isn't the best way to do this, but the receptionist at the drs agreed I should try it.

It does sound like a UTI, yes.

If she actually cannot produce any wee, that is a medical emergency as she may be in urinary retention, in which case you would need to take her to A&E.

Put her in the shower and put the water over her private area abd get her to wee. If she can then start mid stream move the shower abd catch a sample.

I have been in your shoes it’s distressing and horrible!
