Molluscum contagiosum

Hi,

I just wanted to share our experience with molluscum contagisum because I know I came here looking for advice when my eldest had it.

She started with it in January time, and by luck I noticed that first spot. She continued getting a few of them (she had a fair few but she wasn't covered) and in April she caught one whilst playing and it burst and bled all over. It was actually the 'original' spot that was caught, and it ended up getting infected.

From there she kept catching the spots from just day to day playing.

I would use savlon and a plaster over any burst spots to avoid them spreading. What I didn't realise at first was that they could spread on her to other places, not just to other people.

I started using molludab. I dealt with about 5 at a time and I just use it as directed. I'd cover each one with a plaster and after they'd burst I'd use the savlon and plaster until they'd disappeared.

I'd read that you need to get rid of the 'mothership/ original' spot for all the rest to go and I'd agree with that. After the infection went, it took a while for the original to fully go but when it did no more new ones came and the already existing ones seemed easier to treat.

As a side note I went down a rabbit hole and my research suggested that if the Dr's were to refer you to a dermatologist, the first thing they would recommend trying is molludab.

Anyway, I hope this helps someone x
