Does anyone else have a hivey baby?

Just wondering if anyone else has a baby who comes up in the odd hive - often just one or two that aren’t itchy - all the time?!

My daughter has eczema and a couple diagnosed food allergies, so I’m always very, very nervous when they appear that they’ll be another allergy but they are often unrelated to food, or don’t come up again when she has repeated exposure. It is driving me mad trying to figure out what is causing them as they sometimes seem very random, and I’m wondering if she is just prone to them. Anyone else have this issue?

Hives (urticaria) are often assumed to be allergy related but actually most are idiopathic aka mysterious in cause, sometimes viruses are the trigger even with no symptoms. If she isn't especially troubled by them or responds to antihistamines on a reasonable timescale, you probably don't need to worry too much on underlying causes.

Hi echoing the above. My DNephew had this as a child. He does have food allergies but had a spell of constantly coming out with hives when he was about 5. It was idiopathic. He wasn’t troubled by them or unwell. Hung around for about a week and never had them since- although the food allergies remain.

Also he did also look a bit hivey if he was especially hot or cold but that hasn’t happened since he was much younger- he’s now 12.

Yes, we had this. Very regular hives from about 6months to maybe just under 2.

DH has anaphylactic allergies so we ended up being referred to the hospital to be in the safe side. The Dr there said most likely viruses, nothing to worry about, and that she'd probably just grow out of it. She's 2.5 now and we've not had any for ages.

Yes! My daughter did as a tiny baby and as a toddler when she got stressed!

She's now 10 but at the time she was prescribed a histamine blocker and we used it on and off until she was 3.

There was no reason for her hives, she has no allergies.
