My 5 month old boy has had a cold this week, and still has a bit of the sniffles and a cough. He’s woken up this morning with a rash on his chest, shoulders and tops of his arms. Has anyone else experienced this? Does it look familiar?

I am currently waiting for a call from 111.

Looks like a typical post viral rash. Wouldn't worry me (well, it would have on baby #1! But not now). Try to look at how baby is - eating? Wet nappies? Breathing ok? If so, it's probably just the final flare of the immune system which is still getting used to fighting off viruses.

A rash popping up later in the illness is quite characteristics of Roseola:

It's a viral illness that will get better on its own. Many other early viruses cause a rash as well.
