You'll know in a couple of days. Chicken pox spots have a very specific burst appearance in my limited experience, whereas hfm (daughter had a horrific case this year) the blisters won't all break like pox. We managed to break none, despite her being covered and them being several cm across!

My little girl just had hfm except she didn’t have any blisters on her hands, feet or mouth, she had them on her neck, ears and arms. I suspected it wasn’t chicken pox because she wasn’t covered in spots within 24 hours. Docs confirms hfm, which was useful as the blisters looked the same to me.

Chicken pox usually appears on the torso first in my experience and then rapidly spreads. I'd say HFM but you should know fairly quickly!

I keep getting told this but my son’s first spot was behind his ear, and my nephew’s was on his arm near his wrist. Anecdotal but ….
