Is it normal for the age? DS turns 10 in November and he's being rude to me and DP. Obnoxious, answering back. He's even being this way to DD who is 5. Is it a phase? (please say yes)

Rebelliousness and cheek are both normal.

You need boundaries but don't take it personally.

Keep an eye on him for genuine unhappiness. Assume school all ok - teachers not unhappy?

Oh, and be serious about his treatment of your DD, as that can easily tip into bullying.

Thank you, appreciate the response. With DD, he tells her to shut up often and calls her an idiot. He gets told off each time, but it remains.

Yes my ds was like this at this age. Quite a lot of backchat. From what I heard from other mums of boys that age, it was quite common.
