Hi all
i was away this weekend with my lg (6 months). She started rolled her eyes back so we could just see the white of eyes - at first I put it down to brightness outside but the following day she did it a few more times over the day. I rang 111 but they didn’t seem to concerned and to make an appointment with our local gp Monday.

has anyone been through this? I’m out of my mind with worry

Dh had a seizure in April for the first time ever. Then in August he had 2 in one day.
He went to A&E when it happened in August he had bloods and a mri and they all come back clear.
Gp has now reffered to Dh for more test has he believes it's epilepsy.

In small babies, it is quite difficult (even for experts, in some cases) to disentangle non-specific movements and behaviours from seizures (which represent abnormal electrical discharges in the brain).

The things that are characteristic of generalised seizures (abnormal electricity all over the brain), are stiff body tone, stiff jerking movements of all the limbs, and altered consciousness, which usually continues after the movements. There can be abnormal eye movements too but these usually aren't only element. Often eye movements that parents & caregivers are worried about are part of the sleep/wake cycle.

If you are worried it's entirely reasonable to go through the episodes and a wider history with a medical professional. In an ideal world it's great to have videos to look at but for short-lived and unpredictable episodes this is frequently not possible.

@Ruelzdontapply @Unseenentity

Thank you both for getting back to me!
@Ruelzdontapply how is your little one doing now? Did they say how long the referral will take?

@Unseenentity - Thank you, we went to the gp today but he didn’t seem to concerned has asked if I can try to video when it happens again. We have been refereed to paediatric neurologist but not sure how long that will be

Video it next time. A neurologist will be able to have a good idea if they can see what it looks like.

Smartiepants79 · 16/09/2024 19:18

Was it just her eyes? Did she turn her head? My DD has breakthrough seizures that just involve her head and eyes.

Jonesyy93 · 16/09/2024 20:12

@Geneticsbunny yeah I managed to get one today after the gp app, very hard though as it’s only lasts few seconds

@Unseenentity aw do they bless them! Yeah just her eyes, I haven’t slept in days now as I’m too worried and her referral may be few months
