Lump in neck for 1 year (pic)

My 5yo has ENLARGED tonsils.

Noticed a raised gland last year Aug 23 and straightaway checked by DR. He said because of her tonsils being so big it’s her tonsilar glands responding. He said because of how worried I was he would refer for bloods- bloods clear.

One year on it’s still there no changes. Sometimes goes down but never gets bigger that what it is. It feels like a gland- it moves around when you touch it and there’s a matching one on the opposite side of neck but not as visable. Gland only visable when she puts her head back. 5 GPs have felt it and all say the same thing. She’s healthy, happy, growing no problems. She picked up ALOT of viruses last year due to starting preschool and school which I feel is important to note.

have anyone experienced this with little one?

she’s got a cold at the moment and another gland has popped up next to it. I’m constantly bothered about it and referring to DR GOOGLE which is SCARY.

Does this look/ sound ok? Always worried :(

It looks and sounds very similar to a ganglion cyst DC7 has. We had an ultrasound on it as it was concerning me. Has the doctor suggested it could be this? They usually appear on joints but if you google there are pictures on necks.

Ask if she can get an ultrasound scan of it to put your mind at rest

Have they suggested taking her tonsils out at all? Does she get tonsillitis? If it does get any bigger I would push for a referral asap, not to try to scaremonger at all because it’s likely fine but a child I know had lymphoma and the only symptom was a lump in the neck and enlarged tonsils. No other symptoms at all and bloods and an ultrasound were clear, it was only a biopsy on it when they had a tonsillectomy that showed it was cancer. This is rare but just be aware. Several GP’s had said the lump was nothing to worry about.

Push for an ultrasound. Obviously im a lot older but I got told my neck lump was a swollen gland for over 6months and got a referral eventually as “I was being over anxious” totally reasonable to be in my opinion I’ve a family history of thyroid cancer. Anyway got a call the following day after my ultrasound and they identified two assumed benign tumours. Since then I’ve had an mri and biopsy done. So keep pushing for it, it’s not gone down and nhs online says to go back to your gp after a few weeks if it hasn’t gone, don’t let them keep telling you it’s nothing without them doing more to confirm it is in fact nothing
