Swollen knee

Last night my daughter was crying saying her knee was hurting.
I had a look and it was very swollen, I asked if she had hurt herself and she was very certain she hadn't (she is a child that would let you know if she had tbh) she is 8.
I phoned 111 as I was concerned as it come up all of a sudden and I didn't know why.
We were sent to urgent care where we were then sent to A&E as the doctor was concerned.
She had an xray and nothing was seen only the swelling.
The consultant didn't really know why this happened just to keep an eye on it and come back if she got a temp or if it got any worse.
Was just wondering if this has happened to any of your children?
I've attached pic of her swollen knee.

Awwww, I'm sorry to hear that. No advice but just following as I have a similar problem.

It can be an infection normally caused by a viral infection, has she been poorly over the last 6 weeks or so?

Sometimes antibiotics are needed, sometimes IV if its septic arthritis or it could be reactive arthritis or viral arthritis.

Just keep an eye on her, how she is in herself, her temperature, if the swelling gets worse or feels hot or is red

She has had a cold the past week, they did an xray and said they wasn't concerned about infection.
It's still swollen but not painful unless she bends it to much (but I think that's due to how tight it gets pulled because of the swelling).
