I’ve just recovered from food poisoning and as predicted I can feel a cold sore coming on as I always get them when I’ve been unwell.

i have a 6 month old always grabbing my face, I obviously won’t kiss him but how can I really make sure he doesn’t catch this virus??!

im terrified

Go to the GP or online pharmacy and get antiviral tablets and cream. Aciclovir I think it's called. You might be able to stop it in it's tracks. You could wear a mask as well if you're very worried

UK meds I would try for online pharmacy. The online doctor confirms the prescription

Be scrupulous with hand washing, use a Compeed cold sore patch to cover it at all times and be really careful if you co sleep that he doesn't reach and grab you in his sleep

I wore a face mask when I had a cold sore so that DS couldn't accidentally touch it whilst co-sleeping

I also suffer and have been very paranoid with my own children. I use the compeed patches to ensure that even if baby touches my face, it's covered. I've also read that if you get them, you will have passed on some level of immunity when pregnant? No idea how accurate that is.

I do remember my midwife saying this but just unsure how long their immunity lasts? I really hope that’s true as I would have kissed him yesterday when it was brewing and I didn’t know

Will he wear mits or is he old enough to pull them off?
