We had to go to a and e today with my 16 year old. We got through triage and xray to be hit with a 7 hour wait. We were fine.for three. Them my child's neurodiversity hit
He started to get agitated . He started to get abusive . To the point he got so stressed it brought a migrane on and all he wanted to do was go home. He's 16 so he.discharged himself and now we have no.idea what the xray results are . I'm struggling to process everything as he was supposed to be starting college properly today..I have to go to work and feel crap. 😪 because I can't help him because hes in that limbo age of 16 to 18

The X-ray results should be added to his medical history so you may be able to call your usual GP and find out

I've been told that could take upto.10.days as he discharged

Sorry you went through this. A&E waits are very difficult for everyone and ADHD just adds a whole extra layer of difficulty.

I would have thought that the hospital has a duty of care to contact whatever phone number you gave on admission, if the x-ray shows anything that requires immediate treatment. I don’t think I’d bank on it though.

If the x-ray was for a simple injury I would suggest going to a minor injuries unit and starting afresh with the process. The wait tends to be a lot less and a lot less stressful as you’re less likely to be surrounded by seriously unwell patients.
