Hi I am hoping someone can give some advice, my ds who is 2 years and 9 months old suspected asd has become very constipated for the past week or so. Last weekend he couldn’t go all weekend and I gave him an Ella’s kitchen prune pouch which managed to get him to go on Monday afternoon. However since then he still seems to be really struggling and I took him to GP on Tuesday who prescribed us Lactulose and referred him to the constipation clinic. The past few days he is just pooing the smallest amounts in his nappies but the poo doesn’t seem hard like you would expect a constipated poo to look, they look normal but just little bits at a time and I think he is trying to hold it in. The problem I have is that he is barely eating and drinking, I am getting him to eat and drink a little but nowhere near the amount he normally eats and drinks, has anyone else been through this who could offer some advice to help? His diet is not great due to his sensory issues to food which I realise is probably the cause but he simply won’t eat if I offer him something that’s not a ‘safe’ food for him, I am at a loss with what to do to help him!

Will he have an lolly ice? That’s fluid. And watermelon, or any melon.
Will he sit on a potty while you read a book together?
