Gunky eye when teething

Hi all. My 7month old is teething and has had cold symptoms. His eyes were looking red and now have progressed to being gunky and sticky when he wakes up from any sleep. I assumed his eyes were a viral issue but now the gunk has appeared does this suggest a bacterial infection needing antibiotics? Does baby need to stay away from playgroups etc? Thanks x

I’d get them seen, eyes are so precious. And think about cleaning them with cooled boiled water every morning while teething

My daughter from 0-3 had gunky eyes with every cold. We saw the Dr a few times and it was just the cold. We had to regularly wipe with cotton wool and cooled boiled water. We never needed antibiotics. It's worth getting checked over by the GP/nurse/pharmacist. They might only need regular bathing.
My daughters nursery were happy to have and regularly bathed her eyes for us. She was fine in herself

Thank you all. I managed to get a phone call with the GP today. She has recommended bathing with cooled boiled water. No drops needed unless the whites of the eyes turn red. Interesting your daughter had this with every cold @Superscientist wonder if we will have the same. Thanks again
