Toilet training advice

Just looking for some advice on toilet training my son. He is 2 3/4 and we are on day 4 of no nappies. It is going well in that he will happily wee on the toilet, including when we're out. But this does mean I have to keep really on top of things and put him on the toilet every half an hour or so. If I don't, he will wet himself.

How do I transition him so that he is actually asking to go to the toilet because he needs it? Will this just happen eventually? Or do I need to stop putting him on the toilet and let him wet himself to teach him he needs to be in control of it?

Any advice welcome!

Move slowly from putting him on the toilet every half and hour to asking him if he needs the loo every half an hour. Let him say yes/no, so he's in charge. This might mean he has an accident or two, but he needs to understand what the feeling of needing to go is like.

Once you've mastered this you can slowly move away from reminding him every half an hour to letting him tell you.

Be patient, it's only been four days!
