Strawberry tongue?

Does this look like strawberry tonight?

DS started with a temp yesterday. Has been sick once. Now has a cough and croaky voice and I’ve noticed this evening his tongue looks odd.

No sign of a rash.

Just trying to judge whether he might have scarlet fever, hoping it’s just something viral as we go away in a couple of days.

Dots don’t look as prominent in the photos for some reason now uploaded

Doesn’t look like it to me- normally much redder like a strawberry when it’s scarlet fever. You’d normally see a rash with it too on his trunk and arms. hope he feels better soon x

Hand foot and mouth?

My (limited) experience of strawberry tongue is that it is much redder than that - almost shocking to look at. I was taken aback when I noticed my son's. It was the colour of a very ripe, red strawberry and the dots were pronounced. Also he had a really thick, white coating further back and down his throat.

Dds had Scarlett fever this time last year, they both had a more prominent redness and a white coating over the back of the tongue with quite a strong pungent bad breath as well as fever.
See how he is overnight then maybe get him checked if you're still unsure and he's still unwell.

Thanks everyone, he does have a white coating at the back but no rash so hopefully just a normal bug, just hadn’t seen his tongue look like that before! Will see how he is in the morning.
