Has anyone used the nitty gritty solution that you can buy? Myself and daughter have nits and I've been using conditioner with nitty gritty comb but heard this is less foamy so really effective. Also why does it say to check day 1,5,9,13 and 17? Also do I have to wash pillows? Xxx

You need to break the life cycle of the louse hatching, growing to adulthood, laying eggs (nits) and then the new lice hatching. By wet combing with a gap between ensures you don't allow the lice to lay the eggs as they're not mature until day 10.

Yeah I was gonna do daily but saw on nhs these specific days. I assume these are dates they lay eggs or something like that

When my DD used to get them...regularly from a friend who always had them..i used to go through her hair everynight with nit comb and few times week condition hair and go through with nit comb with conditioner in hair. I also put her hair in a bun for school xx

@Loubelle70 sounds good. I assumed it worked? Did you manage to get rid or did it continue? Xxx

My friends girl was constantly catching nuts from school. We ended up putting her hair up and spraying with hairspray, which stopped them coming onto her hair. How and why it worked I don't know but it did.

As for treatments, I'm afraid I can't help as this was 30 years ago and my boys just needed a comb with a nitty gritty and conditioner.
