What to use on this?

Does anyone have any recommendations on what to put on (if anything) on this on my boys lip.

I believe it started out as eczema as he has had a patch there for a few weeks which flared up and died down every now and again but he has cut his first 2 teeth in the last 2 days and I think it's been aggravated by his dummy and the dribble.

It doesn't seem to bother him, it just doesn't look nice.

I've been putting sudocrem and zeroderm on a night (he also has eczema on his tummy) on to try and stop infection but now I'm wondering whether to just leave it to dry out?

Any suggestions?

What about fucidin? May be a bit of impetigo

I'd pop to the pharmacy and ask some advice. Don't know if they can give fucidin though

Dressinggowntime · 21/08/2024 09:11

buy some hydromol but it may need a steroid. I’d ask your gp

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 21/08/2024 09:20

That looks like it might be impetigo so get that seen asap.

GeorgesMummy5224 · 21/08/2024 09:25

I was wondering about impetigo as I had that a couple of times when I was younger but I couldn't really remember how it started.

I'll pop down to the pharmacy after his nap and next feed

My first thought was "That looks like impetigo". The pharmacy is a good call.

GeorgesMummy5224 · 21/08/2024 12:14

Been to the pharmacy and they said it could be impetigo but would expect it to look a little different. They can't give anything to treat because of how young he is.

Currently waiting on phone call from doctor.

Hope the doctor has helped OP.

GeorgesMummy5224 · 21/08/2024 18:22

Thanks all.

GP wasn't convinced it was impetigo but has given us Fucidin to try for 5 days and also mild hydrocortisone in case that doesn't do anything.

Hopefully will clear up in a few days 🤞🏼

He's still very happy in himself considering he's just had 2 teeth come through ☺️

Fingers crossed for him that whatever it is clears up soon.

Sounds like he is a tough cookie as he's so happy

GeorgesMummy5224 · 11/09/2024 08:09

For anyone that is interested - we are still battling this.

After a few days of using the Fucidin, it started to clear up well. Then it came back.

He had 7 days worth of antibiotics. It was around 80% gone. Then it came back again.

Now he's been given another course of antibiotics and to use the Fucidin together and hopefully that should shift it. He started that yesterday but it doesn't look cracking this morning. Doesn't help that he's teething so his hand is constantly there.

It doesn't seem to bother him but it's getting me down 😔

I can't see what date you've posted your update but is it still going on? Could you put the fucidin on when he's asleep? And or fucidin on and then a litter plaster for half hour to make sure it soaks in

I posted the update yesterday.

We do put it on when he's asleep but it must tickle and then he rubs it off. Currently putting it on before naps and putting his dummy in.

I think it looks a little better today so hopefully it's getting better 🤞🏼

Sending love. It's not nice for him. Hopefully a few more days will really start to do the trick

Thank you 😊

Up to last night it was looking good but this morning looks like it's gone backwards a bit and his eczema has flared up on his face. He had peanut butter yesterday and now wondering if that has caused the flare.

Starting to get us down now...I have a feeling we will be back at the doctor's next week.
