Sore tummy

Full disclosure I have major health anxiety after some big scares when my kids were little so happy To be told I’m overreacting!

my DD8 had some diahhrea a couple of nights ago - no cramps, just kept going back and forth to toilet about 4 times with it then seemed fine. Came home yesterday looking pale and tired and put her to bed early, but she woke at 10pm with a sore tummy and was up until 5am with it being sore, calpol / hot water bottle finally let her nod off. She’s still eating and drinking ok so not following a normal tummy bug to me🤷‍♀️no fever etc. Panicking pointlessly as my son ended up with appendicitis when little after an about 5 days of fleeting tummy pain / loose stools that I 100% thought was nothing but he suddenly went downhill.

i’ve kept her home from holiday club today due to lack of sleep last night but it’s going I be hard to keep doing this all week when she’s not actively “ill” but definitely a bit paler and quieter than Normal though that could now be down to lack of sleep last night.

I’m overreacting right? I hope 🤞

I don't think you're overreacting. Sounds like your child has a bit of a bug of some sort and you are looking after her very well. Presuming she isn't in agony, I'd leave it a couple of days and see if it just goes off. If it doesn't, or it gets worse, take her to the doctor.

I think we've all been there .
Just keep an eye,if she sleeps well tonight ,try and move on
Hopefully she's ok

Deepseafish · 20/08/2024 17:17

Oh you are all so kind, thank you. So today she’s been fine, so I’m hoping tonight she sleeps as she was up pretty much all last night with sore tummy. No temp, just a bit paler than usual and the diahhrea a couple of nights ago.

And it wasn’t an agony sore tummy just enough to stop her sleeping and settled when I finally tried calpol and a hot water bottle at 5am. I don’t think shes anxious at camp, and it’s a funny coincidence with the diahhrea the evening before it so I feel they are linked…

just a little update/ more advice please!
so last night she woke 7 times 🤯saying she needed a poo but
nothing came Out tgough she went for a wee each time…she’s exhausted this morning as she woke so often but again isn’t unwell in any other way- and no sore tummy. I’m thinking it’s like constipation now? If she feels she can’t go but needs to? Just odd as she was fine all day yesterday and managed a normal poo but an hour after she went to sleep she’s up numerous times feeling she needs to go 🤷‍♀️stumped (and tired)

Could it be the early stages of a UTI maybe?

Deepseafish · 21/08/2024 10:35

Ah that’s one I hadn’t thought of actually…

OP posts:
Deepseafish · 21/08/2024 10:35

Just seems odd it’s only overnight that it’s happening

OP posts:
Hartleyhare1206 · 21/08/2024 10:53

possibly distracted from it during the daytime?

you can buy the dipsticks from Amazon and a lot of pharmacies and test at home, or see if you can take a sample in to GP/nurse for them to test?

it’s probably not a UTI, it was just a thought; but relatively easy to rule in or out if you do suspect it xx

Deepseafish · 21/08/2024 10:56

No that’s clever, I’ll maybe try
and pick some up and as you say can rule that out at
home.

if it's clear, any idea what would be causing her to feel the sensation of needing a
poo waking her every hour or so overnight?!

Other than UTI and constipation, I’m out of ideas I’m afraid!
can’t remember if you said, but have you tried using Movicol or similar to clear any possible blockages?!

Hartleyhare1206 · 28/08/2024 20:59

@Deepseafish how’s it going?? Any improvement or answers? X

Deepseafish · 28/08/2024 21:11

Hi everyone,

well it got better for a couple of days then returned 😔diahhrea less bad but odd…..attaching a pic so do NOT open if you’re eating or don’t like poo pics! it alternates between this and sort of mr whippy texture. Cramps on and off all day and night. Handed in a sample this morning to look for bacterial infections but gp said it’s unlikely as no fever/ off food etc, I’m tired and so is she ☹️

poo pic- not for faint hearted

Sore tummy

this does not resemble her normal 1 x daily poo which looks totally healthy and normal so something odd going on. I wondered if it was a worm but gp says it’s mucous 🤷‍♀️
