Stomach bug...after effects?

My 9 month old DS is a week on from the start of horrible stomach bug. Basically just had diarrhoea and stomach cramps. There wasn't any vomiting thankfully, but at the peak (5 days ago) he was pooing 10 times a day and got a bit dehydrated. Horrible watery/mucousy yellow smelly diarrhoea. Anyway, we seemed to turn a corner about 3 days ago and frequency reduced and he seems to be back to his normal self.

However, he is still having loose explosive (sometimes mucousy) stools. Yesterday was 5 times, including one at midnight! He is also waking up early at 5am-6am to do a huge loose poo. When do things typically return to normal? Prior to all this, he was going about twice a day (not at 5am!) and things were solid! We have eased him back into a normal diet (avoiding high fibre), but wondering if we should be doing anything else to help the process along? He has probiotics every evening.

Sometimes children develop a dairy intolerance after a stomach bug which can cause loose stools. Cut back on dairy for a few days and reintroduce slowly

It’s lactose intolerance. My daughter is 13 and still gets it after a stomach upset.

I did wonder about a lactose intolerance. He is already dairy free as he has an allergy, but I am still breastfeeding him. He won't take dairy free formula....fussy. Will it just resolve on its own in time?
