Fish smelly nappy - toddler boy

Hi there

Past 3 mornings, 22m old has woken with very strong smelling fishy/ammonia nappy. This is a brand new occurrence and only seems to be the morning nappy. He seems well in himself, no fever, eating well and doesnt seem distressed although has been more irritable this week overall but is in the thick of toddler tantrum stage but it could be a sign of an infection i suppose.
Could this be a uti? Going to ring the dr shortly but wondered if anyone else had experienced this?

Internet brings up 'fish odour syndrome' but this has terrified me but seems to be a rare genetic disorder so hopefully not that! But i also hear that uti's are not that common in little boys?

actually scratch that about not distress - he just welped and made what i thought was a poo face but actually he had just peed.
Defo thinking UTI.

How much is he drinking?? Sounds like a possible UTI, try and push the fluids if you can x

he drinks pretty well - cup of milk morning and night, plenty fruit and water throughout the day!

just an update for any other mums this has happened to - gp dipped his pee and said potential infection as there was leukocytes so gave us a 3 day anti-b course. they'll phone us next week with the lab results if anything v sinister grows or if the strain is resistant to the anti-b.
