Is this really growing pains?

Hi, my DD is 5. She's suffered for the last few years on and off with what the doctor calls 'growing pains'.

I remember as a child suffering terribly and in those days they called it cramp. Heat and painkillers always helped. I still get it now occasionally but nowhere near as often and certainly doesn't hurt as much as I remember as a child.

DD is either getting them worse lately or is not coping with them as well. Historically we could give calpol and a warm wheat bag and that would settle her quite quickly but the last couple of times she has felt sick with it. Assuming from the pain.

They usually come at night but she's having a bout as I type. She's had calpol and wheat bag, settled down and then started again as the other leg has started hurting. I've put her in a warm bath which seems to have settled her.

Should I be seeking further advice on this, has anyone had any experience and can suggest anything preventative or other ways to treat?

Hate seeing her so upset and in pain and it takes me right back to being that little girl.
