Hi,
My 3 yr old is due to have her tonsils and adenoids removed next week and i have been told it will be a new technique (coblation)rather than the old way of removing them so she should be in less pain afterwards.
can anyone tell me if their child has had this operation and what the recovery will be like and if pain will be minimal as i am starting to worry about recovery as my friends child had hers removed and sufferd a post op bleed and was apparently in lots of pain,so looking for positive stories from people to make me feel better!!

Coblation has been around for quite some time. Initially recovery is quite good but then they can still get sore. You just need to keep giving regular pain relief, even overnight, I always tell parents to wake their children to give a dose so they can eat breakfast. Bleeding afterwards is a risk but it doesn’t happen too often. If you notice any fresh blood then you need to take your child to your nearest a&e. My child had a small bleed and we just stayed in over night for some antibiotics.
