Third immunisations

Hi all,

Just wanted to post on here in case it helps anyone. I’ve just been at the hospital with my 5 month old, who had her third lot of jabs yesterday. She has been screaming non stop, barely feeding, raging temp. My GP advised to call 111 who then told me to take her to Urgent Care.

She is my third, so I’ve been through all the immunisations before, but my other children have never been this unwell.

Anyway, the Dr told me that they are seeing more and more of these cases with third round of immunisations recently. He said he has a friend at GOSH who is currently writing a paper on it because the reaction babies are now having is strange and they will be looking into what they’ve changed in the vaccine to cause this.

i found that really interesting! Baby is absolutely fine and he said this can now last up to 5 days.

So wanted to let any mums out there know it’s all normal, even if you haven’t experienced this with other children.

My daughter has this at 4 months. It was due to the menB vaccine she screamed inconsolably for 3 days and over the course of 8h we had a phone call with the HV, 3 GP appointments and a trip to paeds. Nothing inherently wrong just a strong immune response. When she had her 1 year jabs she and them at the hospital and one at time so we would know if it's a vaccine response in general or if it's just one for the vaccines that makes her feel particularly rubbish. She had a similar response when she had the menB but a little less intense. She's 4 now and has all of her vaccinations and never hand anything like what she had at 4 months. At the time she was by default miserable due to undertreated reflux and undiagnosed food allergies so the thought is that the menB tipped her over the edge.
