14 month old suddenly gagging/vomiting at the sight of food

My 14 month old has started the gag at the sight of food really sudden.

She’s usually an amazing eater but it all started on Friday when I went to give her, her night time bottle and she was violently sick everywhere.

Saturday she was absolutely fine and ate fine.

Sunday morning she had her bottle like normal and I made her a pitta pizza for her lunch (her favourite) and she started gagging at the sight of it and wouldn’t touch it. I removed it from her highchair and made her an omelette which she ate fine.

I then went to make her favourite chicken curry and she refused that also with only 3 mouthfuls and then ate grapes and a banana. Fast forward to bedtime I make her a bottle and as soon as she notices it she gags again and refuses it.

This morning she had her bottle fine and my partner noticed her tummy didn’t sound right and then about 3 hours later she projectile vomits again her full bottle of curdled milk & throughout the day she’s had bland food; toast, smiley faces, grapes with no issues.

I’ve just taken her food out of the fridge after it coolinh down whilst holding her and she’s just projectile vomited all over us again at jusy the sight of the food.

She had a temp of 38.5 last night & it’s been normal today.

The doctor has seen her and jusy thinks it’s a tummy bug but it’s the gagging at the sight of food which is really bothering me. Has anyone else experienced this?

Honestly I would say she’s just still feeling sick/in the midst of a nasty bug. My little one had gastro and after 12 hours of no sick I went back to giving him his favourite foods to build him up again and it just sent us into a cycle of vomiting - it was just never long enough or plain enough to let him recover after his bug. It took about 8 days in the end before he was even remotely normal around food. I try and remember that I’d be the same after a bug, and want to take food very gently for a while. I just let him focus on staying hydrated and eating small, plain amounts on his terms.
