What can eat when on penicillin

My 13 year old is taking penicillin and we’re struggling to find foods he can eat while on it. We didn’t realise that he can’t eat dairy or anything heavy or acidic while on it so he threw up dinner last night. So far we can see that bananas and dry bread are fine, but he has to take it for another 9 days and I want to be able to give him more than just bread, rice and bananas. Has anyone else had this and got any advice please? It’s also complicated in that the penicillin needs to be taken on an empty stomach three times a day.

My dd was on penicillin for 5 years constantly and just aye what she wanted so are you sure he's not allergic to it or sickness as a result of illness

Has his doctor advised he shouldn't eat those foods? If not, then he can eat them.

Thanks for the replies. I read online that he shouldn’t eat those while on the medicine. It doesn’t seem to be an allergy as he continues to take the meds and hasn’t been sick again.

You can eat what you like! We certainly don’t restrict patient’s diets when they’re on it.

Where are on earth have you read that??

DC have been on penicillin a few times. Never changed their diet because of it.

Read the leaflet that came with it. Don't FFS rely on what you read on the internet unless you are able to verify and assess the accuracy of the source.

If he was to avoid these foods it would say on the box of antibiotics the pharmacist would have said something when they handed you the prescription,

Why did you Google?

Thank you for the replies. We are in Sweden and the leaflet with the meds is in Swedish, so it’s hard to tell. The reason I Googled was because he threw up after dinner (veg curry and chocolate). I guess we may have to just see what does and doesn’t work.
