My son 2 yrs old gets these patches a few times throughout the year. Doc had given me optimax to moisturise which has delayed recurrence but they r back. They always come on his legs and arms. Any advice? Doc had prescribed anti fungal cream previously but then said its just dry skin but I moisturise him regularly

Hard to tell from the pictures, but it could be discoid eczema – that often looks very, very fungal. If so, then you may need to moisturise a lot. (DD2 gets full body cream twice a day, problem areas every nappy change/toilet trip, and that's not an extreme routine.) I'm not familiar with optimax – you may need a different emollient, it's quite individual which one works best.
