1yo fell on plastic lid

1yo DS was gifted a box of duplo for his birthday yesterday. He’s only recently started walking so can sometimes be a bit unsteady on his feet.

This morning we were playing with the duplo, with the lid next to us. DS was standing over the box and started walking away but tripped and fell face first into the corner of the inside of the lid. He cried but quickly settled.

His cheek was red and he immediately had an initially white line under his cheekbone where the curved bit had imprinted onto him, and after 10 mins it started to go a bit purple. I’m worried about if he’s okay, potential bruising and could this cause any issues with his teeth? He only has the front bottom teeth but just not sure.

I’ll know now not to leave the lid lying out and he seems okay but I just feel so sad that he might be sore or have an unsightly mark on his poor face :(

Has this happened to anyone? Is there anything I can do? I guess I just want to know he’s fine and feel like I can be more helpful than just lots of cuddles and kisses.

There's a 99.999999999% chance that he'll be absolutely fine, these things happen literally all the time when they just start walking.

Brace yourself, he will do a lot worse than that to himself before he's through childhood. He may well have bruised it, but if he's settled down now I wouldn't worry.
I'm always amazed how little kids manage to hurt themselves no matter how hard you try to protect them. And how what would be a just a little bump on an older kids looks alarming on a baby/toddler.
