Weird stomach bug for a week

Ds has had abdo pain for a week now. Was better after a day and went back to school but then vomited that night. He's not vomited very much but a few times on and off. Nothing like a normal stomach bug where you throw up and throw up until there's nothing left. Then the diarrhoea started after 3 days but again has been on and off and not the bowel emptying explosion you'd expect with a stomach bug. He had a fever last week but has been ok and feeling much better the last couple of days.
I've had diarrhoea once and cramps and had a fever.
I've never known a weird bug like this. Has anyone else had similar? How long did it last?

Could be this odd COVID variant .
We've experienced those weird bugs a few times over the years. You may be doing this already but sometimes children have bugs that linger as they cause a temporary intolerance to dairy.maybe try cutting that out

Yes we've just had this with Covid. Fine one minute, incredibly nauseous the next. No vomiting here but its been close! Stomach cramping and loss of appetite. It lasts ages.
