2 year old excessive blinking

Around a week and a half ago my 2.5 year old DS has started to excessively blink and push his eyelids shut for a little bit of time whilst watching any kind of screen (my phone/TV).

This seems to happen at any point of the day but I do think tiredness perhaps makes it a bit worse. He doesn't have lots of screen time to be honest - probably around 30 mins per day as a maximum so I'm really concerned as he doesn't watch lots of screens. He doesn't blink excessively when looking at books, whilst playing and every other activity. He did ask me if I could 'wink' the other day but it seems to be as if he can't really help the blinking when watching anything.

I've got him booked into a local opticians but I'm assuming there's only so much they can screen a 2 year old so they said they will be able to refer to hospital if there are any issues.

Has anybody else experienced this with their little one? I'm beyond worried to be honest as I have awful health anxiety.

He's 2. They do weird things because they can, especially if they get a reaction. Just get his eyes checked and then wait and see, suspect he'll just stop it
