Athletes Foot

My DD aged 7 has just signed up for swimming lessons after a break of 3 years. The reason for the break was that she was literally terrified throughout each lesson and would just cling to me. We took her to a few fundsplash sessions to reacquaint her and then signed up for lessons, paying up front for a month. Literally the next day she presented with what looks very much like athletes foot between her little toe and the next one. On advice from pharmacy we missed her first lesson 6 days later and used canesten cream for 7 days. It's still a bit peely now and her next lesson is on Saturday and I'd be surprised if it's completely gone by then. Do we really need to miss another? Has anyone used one of those waterproof swimming socks? Nhs says athletes foot can last 4 weeks!!
