Strawberry tongue, peeling fingers

My two DDs have strawberry tongue, cold sores, peeling fingers and a scarlet-fever-like rash. However they are well in themselves.

They also both had scarlet fever less than a year ago.

Does anyone have any ideas? I'll take them to the first doctors appointment I can get, but it's confusing that they aren't ill.

Thank you 🙏🏻

Peeling hands is apparently one of the symptoms of the newest covid variant.

I should clarify they are uncomfortable with these symptoms, but there's no fever and they are normal energy levels, appetite etc.

I'm worried I'm missing something ...

Oh this is interesting. I was ill last week but tested negative for covid ... I'll try and get a lateral flow.

Thank you

Sounds like a vitamin deficiency (their tongue and peeling skin).

Edited

They both eat healthily, very few UPFs and it's come on suddenly in the last few days in both children.

Do they eat enough food containing vitamin B6 and B12 everyday?

You can get scarlet fever more than once! Unlike eg chickenpox... As noted by my GP when DD caught it for the second time in a year.....

Babaquestions · 06/07/2024 15:12

Vitamin B deficiency causes flaky skin, rashes, cracked lips etc. Strawberry tongue is also a sign of vitamin B deficiency.

alligatorhat · 06/07/2024 15:13

@Babaquestions yes, lots of chicken, nuts lentils, fish, eggs ...

I had read that but also that it's really unlikely and this is both girls ... But I suppose they would have been exposed to the same source of infection. Thank you 🙏🏻

I'll let you all know what the doctor says.

I always remember reading about Kawasaki disease on here when my DS was young and had peeling fingers. Worth checking out.

You can get chicken pox more than once, mine did.

I second this. Strawberry tongue and peeling skin on hands can be a sign of kawasaki. I would definitely try to get that assessed as soon as possible.

Finally got a doctor's appointment today - scarlet fever!

Thank you all for your advice 🙏🏻
